Personal Development in Peartree has a paramount role in equipping young people with useful strategies on how to handle the challenges of an increasingly complex world as well as presenting them with many positive and exciting opportunities.

Our Personal Development is closely linked with the social, health and economic realities of children’s lives. It contributes to physical and mental health and wellbeing. It promotes confidence, resilience and it gently guides children towards flourishing in their relationships. It supports pupils to be mentally and physically healthy. It provides strategies on understanding a variety of risks and how to stay safe online and develops the skills to identify misleading news or views on social media.

How does it happen in our school?

Through:

• Pro-active pupil leader and pupil voice – school council, eco team, pupil leaders, buddies, sports ambassadors, travel ambassadors.
• Our innovative curriculum teaches children to value the attributes of aspirational figures from different backgrounds
• Personal achievements are celebrated in our sharing assemblies
• Dream-catcher assemblies promote aspirational figures from our local community, including parents
• Commando Jo resources and CPD that develop team-building and personal skills
• School values promoted through all lessons and projects: resilience, persistence, self-motivation, risk-taking, creativity, good citizenship, entrepreneurism
